Our History

The partnership was started by John Crook, who in March 1964 set up his practice in London Road, Enfield, Middlesex. After 45 years in practice, John Crook retired in 2009.

John was joined in March 1965 by Leslie Sturt and Brian Hunt. The three partners continued to operate from the London Road office until July 1969, when they moved to the larger premises at 255 Green Lanes, Palmers Green, London where their offices are based today. Sadly in January 2004 Leslie Sturt died after a short illness. After 60 years with the practice Brian retired in March 2025.

In 1969 they were joined by Geoffrey Prosser, who was then qualified, although John, Leslie and Brian had known him from the time he originally commenced his training. Geoffrey became a partner in 1972.

Peter Bridges joined the firm in 1970 straight from school and entered into a training contract, qualifying in 1975. In the course of his examinations Peter achieved eleventh-equal place in the first part of his final examination. Having been with the firm since 1970, Peter became a partner in 1978.

1990 saw Mark Woodgate join the firm straight from school and, like Peter, entered into a training contract. Mark passed his professional examinations in 1995 and in September 1999 became a partner.

In 1999 Ian Hunt joined his father in the firm, having passed his professional exams in 1990. In April 2006 Ian also became a partner.
